8 INK MEDIA’S YOUTH TITLES TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT THE AD MAG AWARDS 8 Ink Media’s youth titles seventeen and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS were both awarded top slots in the AdVantage AdMag ceremony in Johannesburg on Thursday, 13 May 2010. Between them, these magazines were honoured with the coveted Best International Title, two golds and a silver award.
Seventeen, SA’s leading teen culture magazine for girls, scooped the highly coveted Best International Title as well as a Silver Award in the Youth Culture Category. Elated editor, Khwezi Magwaza, attributes the magazine’s success to her dedicated and passionate team members and says, “We know who our readers are and what they want, and can therefore put out the best available product for them to consume. We’re also extremely proud and honoured to have received yet another accolade by the magazine industry, especially after winning the International General Interest Award at last year’s PICA Awards.”
The cutting edge website of seventeen magazine, seventeen.co.za, scooped a Gold Award in the Innovative Digital Publishing category. “We’ve really focused hard on creating products for all digital platforms where teenage girls are playing and this industry acknowledgement, alongside the support of our audience, means we’re hitting the right notes,” says Natalie Dixon, Digital Publisher at 8 Ink Media.
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS, SA’s highest selling children’s magazine, received a Gold Award in the Youth Culture Category. Having recently won the Best Magazine Campaign of The Year at Finweek’s AdReview Awards and a merit at the New York One Show – these for the environmentally-focused Mars print campaign created by agency FoxP2 - this remarkable title continues to offer readers fun and engaging content. A thrilled Fiona Thomson, editor of NG KIDS says, “Receiving this award is a phenomenal feat and a true testament to the winning edutainment formula which keeps parents and kids coming back for more!”
